So, last week, Electroclash had handwavily come to her office portal-lagged from a quick trip to London, and promptly slept through her office hour. But there was no need to discuss that further, because she was here today! Some more emails had gone out to random students, and Electroclash was shuffling some paperwork around, half considering actually doing something useful.

Probably not, though.

She was already starting to fold one of the papers into a plane.

Electroclash raised her eyebrows a bit, as if that was actually pretty impressive. "Bummer," she said, which was about as much sympathy as she was going to show outwardly. "Where was this?"

"LA." Gert gave a small eyeroll at that. "Not exactly the kind of place you think of being overrun with supervillains. At least besides whoever directed the Dusk movies."

[electrocynic]

Electroclash waved a hand. "Villains happen everywhere." At least when you weren't Marvel and had no reason to think LA was particularly safe. "It's the places where you can't see them that you really need to worry about."

[arsenicmauls]

"...So, this town." Gert raised an eyebrow. "Is that what you're saying?"

[electrocynic]

"Nah." She shook her head. "Fandom's usually about as quaint and cozy a small town as it looks. Our villains seem to be temporary imports from off-island. Or other dimensions. Actually, mostly the latter."

[arsenicmauls]

"Unless people are being sneaky," Gert reasoned, because apparently all of Electroclash's visitors today were pretty cynical, "Or until someone shows up and ruins it, yay, lucky us."

[electrocynic]

"You don't look like you'd care to be here in the first place," Electroclash retorted. "So what the fuck do you care?"

[arsenicmauls]

"Because I'm stuck here," Gert grumbled. "And it's screwed up, like every other place ever. That's all."

[electrocynic]

"Well, suck it up." It was possible Electroclash was getting tired of the waves of negativity around here today. "Otherwise you're going to have a piss poor time."

[arsenicmauls]

"I have dead supervillain parents and I'm stuck in this town against my will because at any other school my pet would be confiscated," Gert deadpanned. "I think the having-a-good-time ship isn't even in this harbor."

[electrocynic]

"Well, not with that attitude."

Oh yeah. She went there.

[arsenicmauls]

"Wow, thanks," Gert drawled. "What do you recommend? Some kind of meta Stepford smile all the time like everything doesn't suck?"

[electrocynic]

"Everything doesn't suck." Sorry Gert, but that was just a fact as far as Electroclash was concenred. "Sure, you've got a lot more to complain about than most brats your age, but you're alive, and Fandom won't give a flying fuck about whatever your pet is, and even with all the invasions, this still manages to be one of the safest places in the multiverse. So, you can brood away with your attention-seeking hair and all, but everything is not shit."
