Guidance Counselor's Office, Thursday

There was a surly Elecroclash in the guidance counselor's office.

This was nothing new, no matter what the particular reasons may have been this time. Nothing particularly new about the fact that emails had gone out to random students again, inviting them in for counseling check-ups. The administration had vaguely said they might be targeting new students, but Electroclash had no clue as to whether that had actually been done.

She was folding some of her useless paperwork into paper planes all the same.

"Probably but I'm not sure if you're really the person I wanna do that with unless you can make it so I can go home sooner rather than later," Jasper said.

He knew she wouldn't lift a finger for him. "Anything you wanna talk about?"

"Why do you want to go home?"

"Because I've got stuff to do back there," Jasper told her, shrugging lazily. "And being here isn't really conducive to that."

"And you don't have 'stuff' to do here?" she returned with a drawl. "Homework not keeping you interested?"

"You have taken a look at the course curriculum, haven't you?" Jasper asked, raising an eyebrow. "Of course it's not keeping me interested because I have none."

These types of classes didn't tend to give out homework.

"There's stuff to do here but I still wanna get back home when I can." He just couldn't. And it amused him that she didn't know that.

You'd think it would have been necessary for her to care about that before it was amusing. Oh well.

She shrugged. "Not really under my power. Sorry." She wasn't sorry.

"Well, this was a great help," Jasper said, tapping the arms of the chair and nodding. "I feel thoroughly counseled."

Sometimes, Electroclash could actually be a decent counselor.

After last weekend, however, she wasn't feeling even vaguely up to it.

So she shrugged. "Well, you don't look too upset."

"I'm never upset."

Jasper stood up and started for the door, wondering how much time he'd just wasted and if he had time to call Howie before school ended.

"I'll be sure to give you a glowing review."

Electroclash snorted.

"Well that's a lie."

The first part. The second was sarcasm and didn't count.

As he got to her door, he shrugged.

"Maybe it is but it's a damn good exit line, isn't it?" He threw a smirk back at her over his shoulder before slipping around the corner and walking away.
