OOC: Superpowered Infopost!

Electroclash ([livejournal.com profile] electrocynic)

First off, the canon and the world: No Heroics is a British superhero sitcom set in a contemporary AU London where there's a generous helping of superpowered individuals thrown into the mix with the regular folks. There are heroes and there are villains, and both wear bright spandex uniforms and sport names like Excelsor and Slicefist. Seeing as the show revolves around a group of D-list superheroes, we mostly get a glimpse into the life on the hero side of things. It's a game of fame, for one thing: heroes' feats are reviewed in the papers and on TV, based on their entertainment value and flair. There are also hero trading cards, and the more popular ones get their own comic books. And, of course, there's some superpower prejudice as well, which comes out as capist jokes and the like. Off-duty superheroes tend to hang out together in places like capes-only pub The Fortress, which is the main setting of the show.

So, the lady with the uniform, then:

Powers! Electroclash, as it says above in the gif, controls machines. Simply put, she can walk up to an ATM and say machine give cash in a weirdly electronic voice and lo, money doth appear. She can also do this from a distance, as canon has her make a car fail in the street probably almost a block away from where she is. Basically, I think any electronical device should be within the grasp of her powers, at least if it’s one that she a) knows is there and b) knows enough about to formulate a verbal command for it. Also, if she gets agitated (or PMS-y) enough, her powers can flare up enough to short-circuit a building. IG, though, I will obviously always check OOCly before modding anyone else’s stuff, and will gladly subject her to Fandom’s influence on objects that are off limits for her to command.

Background and personality! Electroclash, known to her friends as Sarah, is the daughter of the most legendary superhero couple in the country, but hasn't ever reached their level of fame. She hasn't even tried to, to be honest: she practically makes a game of disappointing her parents, her dad Rampart in particular. She's bitchy and sarcastic and and the type to laugh at other people's misfortune. She is not a nice person, let's get that out there right now. Her best friend is her polar opposite, but that's mostly because they've been somehow stuck with each other since school: on the whole, she's more drawn to the mean, rude types for friends. She also has no qualms whatsoever about abusing her powers, mostly to get cigarettes from vending machines or, like above, money from ATMs.

Wait, this dame's teaching a class where the blurb said something about superpower ethics? Uh huh! See, Electroclash's history of misusing her powers is not without repercussions. She gets called to appear before a Super Powers Authority committee in canon for a few misdemeanors (exploding a dialysis machine, electrocuting a monkey, and “um... something about a vibrator”) and while she ought to get suspended, thanks to her parents' fame she gets assigned community service instead, in the form of hanging out with a wayward sidekick for a few days. And how does this relate to Fandom? Well, she's messed up again, and because the SPA are still wussing out on suspending her, they've decided to send her far far away to this special school to teach the proper, SPA-guided way of being a superhero. They're hoping she'll maybe learn something too. Or, at the very least, that she'll stay out of their hair for a while.

And, this bit gets to be outside the cut since class sign-ups are still open for a bit: a note about Superheroing 101. Electroclash swears a lot and can be pretty crude on occasion. The former will happen in class, the latter probably not (definitely nothing NWS – that's the one bit of effort she's actually willing to make in being a rolemodel), but be warned all the same if that offends you.

Also! If you'd like to be a TA, email me at justonepersona [at] gmail [dot] com by... let's say Sunday this week actually Saturday. New Year's Eve, yes. There's a chance I might need someone to post the first class for me and I'd like to get that sorted early (though if there are no takers by Sunday, I might grab one of you to do posting and then do TA-recruiting IC in the next class).

Natalie V. Adams ([livejournal.com profile] whenshewasnice)
- 16, junior, Class of 2013.
- From Montreal, and the Scott Pilgrim comics, precanon.
- Rooms in 223 with Tara Maclay and Mr. Moxey the cat.
- Long blonde hair and brown eyes.
- 5'7", thin, wears loose and comfortable clothes and no makeup.
- Kate's doppelgänger, but: she has longer and lighter hair, a slightly higher speaking voice, and just a generally different way of carrying herself.
- Sort of mousey, but she's going to grow up to be The Perfect Woman (no, seriously) so she's already pretty if you actually pay attention.
- Sort of dry, doesn't really do small talk and doesn't like to use too many words; she'll smile at you only once she deems you worth that.
- Still, is an utter closet romantic who believes in the power of love more than she lets on.
- And is dating/providing a continuous emotional challenge to Sam LaCroix.
- Has superhuman strength and endurance, can comment on meta things for comedic effect.
- Also gets her very own raincloud when she's depressed enough, and her weak spot is the back of her knee which, when touched, incapacitates her by producing orgasmic bliss.

Simon Bellamy ([livejournal.com profile] forhisfriends)
- 18, junior, Class of 2013.
- From England, and E4's dramedy Misfits, between S2 finale and the Christmas special, different continuity from Nathan.
- Rooms in 230 with... someone not announced yet (previously Ramona Flowers.)
- 5'9", pale, broad shoulders, neat dark clothes that nicely cover up the fact that he's building up some muscle.
- Meticulously cut dark hair, huge blue eyes, lantern jaw of great justice.
- Can turn invisible, thanks to getting caught in a freak power-granting storm back home.
- When invisible, can't be perceived via any other senses apart from touch and (unlike I claimed earlier) telepathy.
- Spends a lot of his time in Fandom running around doing parkour-like things around town; feel free to have spotted him.
- Pretty darn intelligent, but also shy, timid, and awkward.
- But friendly and kind; he cherishes friendship over anything else, and it's not something he's experienced a lot in his life so far.
- Has a girlfriend back home, although it's very very complicated in a scifi way.
- Geeky as hell, and as such, also kind of genre savvy.
- Infoposted in a more detailed fashion here.

Jeremy Darling ([livejournal.com profile] stars_and_money)
- 17, junior, Class of 2013.
- From NYC and ABC's short-lived primetime soap Dirty Sexy Money, waaaay precanon.
brown-haired, green-eyed, 5'11" and average build.
- Twin brother and BFF of Juliet Darling.
- Rooms in 522 with Stephanie Brown.
- Member of the richest family in New York, in his own universe; no longer expects anyone in Fandom to recognize him as such.
- Friendly, flirty, easygoing.
- Slightly clueless because he's never had to think for himself; money has solved every problem he's ever had.
- Surprisingly geeky about astronomy.
- Unsurprisingly infatuated with fame, celebrities, parties, all that stuff; the lack of most of those things is one of the things he really doesn't like about Fandom.
- Has, however, grown to like being 'just a dude' on the island.
- Dating George Lass; I don't know how that happened, either.
- Can zone out for hours at a time with great ease.
- Infoposted in a more detailed fashion here.

Kate Gregson ([livejournal.com profile] vanillajello)
- 18, alumna of FH Class of 2011.
- From Overland Park, Kansas, and Showtime's woefully cancelled United States of Tara, smack dab in the middle of S3.
- Currently lives in OP with her aunt, said aunt's baby daddy, and a wailing infant; is working towards a career in flight attending.
- In a long distance relationship with Nobody Owens; it's serious enough for her to wear a promise ring he gave her.
- Snarky, sarcastic, self-involved but pretty cheerful about all of that.
- However, mad protective of the people closest to her; can and will stand up to ancient vampires and would probably be zapped into oblivion for her lack of respect were she to meet certain gods.
- On a related note, is going to end up questioning the finality of death if any more of her friends end up coming back from it.
- Used to have a fantasy valkyrie alter ago called Princess Valhalla Hawkwind, about whom you can find out more here.
- The PVH music video is still online – and so are a few videos of her doing stuff like sitting on cakes. If you want to find/stumble upon the latter, shoot me an email; the music video, however, you can find whenever you want!

QUEEN OF THE NORTH POLE! YOU REMEMBERED THAT! I got some leftover Christmas chocolate that I shall share with my favorite charismatic demon. Or something.
