MCA #5, Thursday Afternoon

Sarah was just having a smoke on her balcony (in her pajamas, because she was a grownup and didn't have anywhere to be and could therefore do whatever she bloody well wanted, so nyah) when she noticed it, the random little ball on the floor by her feet. Like any curious person, she put out her cigarette and picked it up, and after examining it for a moment, popped it open.

And then: "Oh you've got to be kidding me."

The weetiny little kitten meowed at her. Sarah shook her head. Tiny animals in plastic balls? Couldn't the island just be normal for once? Even if she couldn't quite figure out what was a normal thing to find inside something that looked like it beloged on a kids' cartoon in the first place. And then the kitten meowed at her again, and tried licking at her fingers.

"Alright, alright. Let's go see about getting you something to nibble on, shall we?

She wasn't going to tell anyone, but the little runt was actually kind of cute.

Sarah came to open the door in her pajamas, cradling a kitten to her chest. You were welcome, Guy.

Still probably best not to make too many remarks about it.

"Oh. You too, huh?"

"You want it?" That kitten was already darting on in to hide under a couch and never leave you, Sarah.

"Not particularly." She tried – in vain – to stick a bare foot out to keep intruders from entering. "Already got one of my own, see."

Yeah, since she'd already been trying to do something with her foot, she might as well try and kick him in the shin while she was at it.

The kitten she was holding meowed at being jostled in the process, and she petted its head. "There, there," she said. Awkwardly.

Guy snorted in amusement, leaning in to give her a kiss. Because of reasons. "Never had a pet before?"

Sarah let him have his kiss, before turning around and wandering back into the apartment proper. He could probably take that as invitation. "Parents didn't think I had the patience."

And they were right, which was why she'd also refrained from getting one later on.

"Who'da guessed it," Guy dead panned, following her in. "Cats are easy, right?"

"No living thing's easy," Sarah informed him as she flopped down on her couch, while making sure not to upset the kitten this time. "Just ask all my potted plants."

He'd notice there weren't any around.

"Dunno, we'll see," Sarah shrugged. The kitten batted at a button on her top. "It's an island thing, they might just disappear on their own."

And she wasn't in a hurry to get rid of this one because it was kind of cute, okay. She half smiled down at it.

Oh, Sarah had barely bothered to play dress-up with her dolls when she'd been a kid. The kitten was probably safe.

She rolled her eyes. "No. I'm more territorial than that."

"I can see that," Guy replied, taking a seat to watch Sarah and her new cat. Becsuse it was very different to see her all... Maternal. Ish.

Ohhh, Guy's narrative, that was downright hurtful. Punchworthy, even, so it was for the best Sarah had no meta abilities like that.

The kitten tried gnawing on the button, so she gently moved it a bit further away. "What, I'm just taking care of it. I'm not a monster, you know."

"I didn't say that," Guy replied with a frown. "Just that you've got your space here."

And he totally had his own space. OH GOD, STOP THINKING ABOUT COHABITATION.

The kitten tried squirming back towards the button. Buttons were awesome, okay. AWESOME.

Sarah snorted and shook her head. "You're an idiot," she told the cat, before glancing up at Guy. "Jealous my space is being invaded by a feline?"
