The Mainland, Saturday Afternoon

Considering the daemon issue, this was probably a weekend for the denizens of Fandom to stay on the island. So naturally, after some text messages, Sarah had dragged Guy out to the mainland. The seach for slutty clothes for next weekend (a separate issue entirely) trumped a little anumal problem.

Walking along, she pointed at a not particularly classy-looking store up ahead. "There, does that look like it deals in scandalously tarty necklines?"

"Looks cheap enough," said the raven perched on her shoulder. She rolled her eyes. "Weren't you supposed to shut the fuck up for the duration of this trip?"

Ahahaha as if something that was a part of her would ever do that?

"Yeah, my partner was stuck back on Earth too." Then he grinned. "And someone from my old team is coming too. You'll like her."

"Her?" Sarah asked, perhaps predictably but not with any particular kind of tone. Finally approaching the automatic doors to the store and giving Corcoran a look to make sure he stayed quiet. "Mmhmm."

Actually, she just didn't like people in general all that often.

"Tora. Nicest person I know," he added helpfully. "We dated for a while."

Both before and after she died.

Well that was just par for the course for superheroes. The weirdos.

"... Your ex is coming." Well, Alex had already shown up once, so she supposed that was fair. Still, it kind of gave her pause, as much as she tried to nonchalantly play it off. "Nicest, really?"

The raven stayed quiet but tilted his head.

"Like a Disney princess," he said, watching her reaction.

She looked... dubious. That was probably the best word for it.

"That's bollocks," quoth the raven.

And they hadn't even been in the damn store for a minute.

Guy rolled his eyes, putting an arm over her shoulders. "This gonna be weirder than the way you're planning to dress for your folks?"

The raven vacated Sarah's shoulder when he did that, and relocated to the top of a rack of clothing. Sarah pretended not to notice weird looks from the staff. "No," she said, though it might not have sounded entirely convincing. "And for your information, the clothes are to piss off my dad."

Which just made it so much better, right?

"Well, that's totally different."

Sarah shrugged, totally subtly winding her arm around his waist while she reached out to grab something off the rack to give it a critical look.

"Disappointing him is like the greatest game in the world."

It was a healthy parent-child relationship, really.

Guy rolled his eyes again. Because that was the mature response. Daddy issues, everyone can haz them.

"How's that workin' for you so far?"

"Splendidly." Yeah, she would think that. "Much better than trying to live up to his mighty expectations."

Not that she'd ever tried all that hard. She'd caught onto not being able to do that pretty early on.

Oh sure. Say something like that and make him have to wander on up behind her for something like a hug. Ish.

In a way.

His arms were around her waist, so that counted.

"Seein' why you're the councilor now," he deadpanned.

Sarah rolled her eyes, even as she leaned back into him a little bit. She was allowed, dammit.

"Are you trying to get mushy on me?" she asked, turning her head. "Talk about feelings?"

"That might mean we're really in a relationship," he warned her with a little half smile.

"Eww, revolting," Sarah replied, maturely. Not entirely sounding like she meant it, though. "Am I supposed to give up all my boytoys now?"

Yeah because she totally had those.

"Nah, that'd mean I'd have to give up mine." Guy, stop making jokes. You're bad at them.

Did it matter when it amused Sarah? "Remind me never to introduce you to Don, then," she rasped. "He'd eat you up and spit you out again before you had time to say 'wait I'm not actually gay'."

"I'd distract him with Kyle," he replied, pressing a kiss to her cheek. "Try something in green. It's a good color."

"As if you know any other colours."

As if you do, Sarah. Apart from black, grey, and white.

"Hey, you'd be the same if the Crayola Brigade was tryin' to kill you too."

NEVER WEAR YELLOW, SARAH. YELLOW WAS ONLY FOR JERKS.

Well, Excelsor wore a yellow cape, so, yeah. No argument there.

"Sure it's not just a fetish?" she drawled, reaching out for a outrageously lowcut spangly top. Yes, it was green.

"Well, I won't say it's not..."

Sarah laughed a little too loud for a woman who'd already brought a raven into this establishment – a raven, one might add, whose whereabouts were currently unknown, but he couldn't have gone too far for fear of pain.

She pulled away from him to turn and hold the top in front of her. "What d'you think? Should I try this on?"

"You think I won't say yes to that?" he asked.

Somewhere below them, a honey badger was making a nest out of slutty tops. As one does.
