MCA #5, Sunday Evening

Date night was not something that had happened in this apartment a ton. Not in... well, several years now. Even Sarah and her cynicism had to admit it was exciting, a little.

Not that it was a very seriously date-y date. Nor had she done much in preparation for it, except pick a shirt that had more than enough cleavage happening. She'd just made sure there wasn't too much unseemly clutter happening anywhere Kanan was likely to be, and that she was stacked on both booze and snacks.

And she was.

So now, she was just waiting for him to turn up.

"Home like your galaxy, I assume," Sarah replied, after a sip from her glass. "Since it looks like you live about five steps away from here."

'Home' wasn't really that simple of a concept for her, either.

"That's the one," Kanan agreed easily. "I do have to say, living basically next door did make getting here pretty easy tonight, though."

He had no complaints about that. He could have a hangover from hell the day after and still drag himself back to his own apartment relatively easily, after all.

Sarah snorted. "Yeah, pretty convenient, ain't it?" she rasped, raising her glass as if to toast to that. She was also privately amused (if in a somewhat dry way) at how her social life seemed to be contained within this building. This floor, even.

Atton and Sparks lived right across the hall, after all.

"Makes for a pretty short walk of shame, if you're into that sort of thing."

Hey, there were worse ways to be, weren't there? Probably. Kanan wasn't completely sure. Once upon a time, his entire social life had consisted of whatever other temple younglings would actually socialize with him.

"I'm into plenty of things," he said easily. "I'm not terribly ashamed of any of them, though."

It was only a walk of shame if you were worried that people knew what it was all about, he figured.

Sarah nodded approvingly. "Good, me neither." She leaned back a little. "Feeling shame is a waste of time."

Please note that she felt various other negative emotions more than enough for one person. (Also, shame. On occasion.)

She wasn't alone on that front. But the things that Kanan felt ashamed about, he wasn't likely to bring up on the first date that lasted longer than three minutes. Those were at least 'coping with Fandom trauma' conversations.

"Never could see why anybody would think of it that way," he mused, and then punctuated that thought with another drink. "Where's the shame in having a good night?"

Sarah gave that one a lazy shrug. "Dunno. Some people just seem to have a bloody big hate-on for fun." Or, in a lot of cases, just a way stricter moral code than hers. (Which was pretty tattered by this point, to be honest.) "Me, I prefer a good night over judging others."

Well.

"Occasionally, I also like a good night of judging others, but, y'know." She downed another sip.

Kanan chuckled a bit like that and took a sip of his own drink.

"Well, I suppose if you're judging based on performance..."

There was probably a joke in there about how the Trandoshan judge was always really nitpicky when it came to keeping score. But really, Kanan just didn't like Trandoshans that way. It would make for an awkward joke.

Very, since Sarah didn't even know what the fuck a Trandoshan was.

"Mostly I judge based on shit people can't help."

Because she was a terrible person.

To Kanan's credit, that statement only startled a light bark of a laugh out of him. And he was still grinning when that laugh was done.

"Well," he drawled, "it's part of the whole experience, I suppose I can't fault anybody for doing inventory."

He seemed fairly unperturbed, so that was probably a good sign, right? Or maybe it was just ego. Who could tell?

Either way, Sarah hadn't really been talking about anything directly related to the situation they were currently in. It wasn't really innuendo; she was an all-purpose judger.

Still. It was a good reaction. (And ego had never been a problem for her. Outside of Devlin, anyway.)

She was still smirking. "I have high standards." She really did not. "Inventory's the only way to keep that up."

"I'll bet it does," Kanan replied, grinning and taking another drink. "Well, consider me forewarned, then. I certainly wouldn't want to subject you to anything substandard."

You know. Out of those things that people couldn't help.

"Then we should get along famously," Sarah rasped, only a little bit predatory with her smirk. But in the good way! She leaned forward, you know, just to be more comfortable. Or something. "'Coz people who stay above the standard get rewarded."

"Well, that sounds promising," Kanan decided, leaning in a little bit, his own smirk a predatory mirror of hers as he reached to set down his drink. "And what sort of rewards are there for those who raise the bar?"

Right, getting rid of the glass seemed like a good move. Sarah took one last sip from hers, though. When she licked her lip, it was because there was rum there. Honest.

"All kinds," she said. "But mostly really dirty ones."

"I was hoping you might say that," Kanan drawled, giving Sarah an appreciative once-over with not much in the way of subtlety when her tongue moved over her lip that way. "The dirty ones are the most fun, I think."

He tilted his head, smirking and leaning in just that little bit more.

"Don't suppose you have samples available for the curious?"

Sarah reached out to set her glass down on the table, now. When her now-empty hand returned, it settled on his knee –- actually, no. That was a little more his thigh, wasn't it?

Yeah, it was.

"Might do," she said, smirking back at him. And with all the leaning, it seemed like a pretty good time to just make the rest of the distance go away. By kissing him.

You know, that was precisely the way that Kanan was hoping she might want to make that distance go away? Between her lips against his and her hand on his thigh, he was finding himself quite happy with the sampling thus far. Enough that he was lifting his hand to slip around her waist, at least, which he figured would probably get that impression across, anyway.

That was a good move. Good enough that she shifted a little closer to him. Which also happened to push her hand a little further up his thigh.

The kiss wasn't very tentative. On a scale from 'light and tentative first kiss' to 'hello I'm definitely having sex with you tonight, repeatedly if possible', it was way more towards the latter than the former.

Well, that was good, because Kanan had grown out of 'light and tentative first kiss' territory back around the same time he'd given up on things like 'Jedi robes' and 'celibacy.'

It had been a big year, really.

This kiss, though? This one had bite to it, a sort of playful, hungry quality that gave plenty of the same vibe in turn. And Kanan's hand wandered that little bit more, settling on the small of her back so that he could pull her just that little bit closer.

He was a fan of closer.

Well, it was such a nice thing. A good thing to be a fan of – which Sarah also was, in case that wasn't obvious. And she hoped it was, from all the leaning.

At least she wasn't trying to climb into his lap. Yet, anyway.

She was just kissing him like that was an option.

That... was actually pretty fantastic, so far as options went. And it wasn't like Kanan wasn't shameless enough to encourage it, either. He gave a little hum in question, as if to say, 'Wouldn't this be so much easier if you were straddling me instead?' and let his other hand join the first, giving her a suggestive little nudge in his general direction.

... What? It wasn't like he was going to come up for air to say it. This was a damn good kiss.

Well if he was going to be encouraging...

Yeah, she moved. It was a little fumbly, what with her desire to also not break the kiss and all, but she managed without incident to shift and climb over his lap. Straddling was just so much more comfortable. Yes. Comfortable was exactly the word.

And she could do one better, reaching for the hem of her shirt once she'd settled down. Sure, she had to actually break the kiss for a few seconds when she was pulling said shirt off, but it was worth it. If her rack had looked great with the shirt, it looked even better in just a bra.

Not that he was getting much of a look when she went right back to kissing him, but. He'd know it was there.

Well, that was good. Kanan didn't need the reminder that it was there, but that moment taken to watch her remove that shirt was a fantastic moment all the same. He was grinning when he returned to that kiss, and, hell, he really only needed one hand for her back, didn't he? And if it wasn't on her back, per se, and if it was moving down to rest on that very attractive behind of hers, he figured she'd understand.

Either that, or she'd be somewhat more distracted by the hand that was instead moving to caress one of those lovely breasts of hers, since they were right there and it would be a shame to pass up the opportunity.

Sarah appreciated both of those things. A whole lot. "And you didn't even need a map." Apparently enough so that she even took the time to mumble a few words, amused but clearly enjoying herself.

Her hands were on his shoulders, but that was likely to change.
